Changing Places toilets for Universities & Further Education

Having a disability shouldn’t limit your educational choices, and universities and colleges are increasingly aware of the need to make it easier for disabled students to attend higher and further education. They provide support in a number of ways, such as with adapted accommodation, professional care staff and help from volunteers. Every college or university should also have a disability advisor or learning support coordinator to help disabled students get the most out of their time in higher or further education.

Under the Government’s new Changing Places rules, which came into force in January 2021, colleges and universities may be required to install a Changing Places toilet if it is a new build or the building is undergoing a major refurbishment. Download the changes to the Building Regulations

Access & Signage

Checks & Maintenance

It is important that regular checks are made to CP facilities at colleges and universities. This is to ensure that all equipment is in working order and ready for next use. Large volumes of people may be using the toilet, so hygiene and working equipment is paramount
