It’s back! Yes, it’s that time again – time to cast your vote for the People’s Choice Changing Places Award and offer the opportunity to your favourite Changing Places toilet to win the accolade.
The People’s Choice Award 2017/8 is a way to offer recognition to the Changing Places facilities that go above and beyond, the ones that make toileting and changing so easy and hassle free. It’s a chance for you, the users, the carers and the campaigners to vote for the Changing Places that has made the best impression on you and to let us know why.
Whether it’s the friendly team working behind it to keep it at its best, the accessibility, the design of the room itself, the equipment or the usability and usefulness of the location, let us know your reasoning and any anecdotes for support and your Changing Places will be in with a chance.
The standard has been set high, with previous winners amongst the Emirates Stadium, Sandcastle Water Park and Cornwall Services Changing Places. But with so many brand new and exceptional facilities, it really could be anyone’s game.
To celebrate the third year of the award and to enable more than just one facility to have their excellence recognised, there are two new categories, three in total, for which to vote:
- Best Changing Places Facility 2017/8
- Most Individual Changing Places Facility 2017/8
- Best Signposted Changing Places Facility 2017/8
With such an outstanding response from our voters in previous years, we’re excited to introduce the new categories and see who has garnered the best reputation amongst the most important crowd – those making use of the facilities.
So go get voting! The winners will be announced on Changing Places Awareness Day on 19th July, so to see your favourite toilet amongst them, cast your vote and let us know your thoughts.
The previous winners…
Cornwall Services – PCCPA Winner 2016/7
The winner for 2016 and a firm favourite amongst the voters; winning by an unprecedented landslide. The inception of the facility began when Rachel George and her son Adam, both active campaigners, were spotted by Cornwall Services Manager Alex Lawson, who discussed with them why so much equipment was needed to allow Adam to use the loo. The Changing Places was installed not long after, and with a relaxing beach scene on the ceiling and rainbow fish decorating the walls, it’s a delight for children and families who need specialist equipment to use the loo. Most notably, the helpful and friendly staff were cited as a winning quality.
Sandcastle Waterpark – PCCPA Winner 2015/6
The winner for 2015 and deservedly so, with comments from the public praising the attitude of the ‘wonderful staff’ and the quality of the colourful decoration to amuse children being changed. Sandcastle Waterpark has been working tirelessly to transform their venue into a hub of inclusivity and installing a Changing Places was just one of the ways they were able to achieve this. With a beautifully decorated facility and BS8300 compliance, this was a worthy winner for 2015/6.
